Shirley Belzer

I grew up in a family of modest means with a mother who kept our home attractive with a simple design aesthetic. It’s safe to say that fluffing and being fussy became ingrained in my DNA. I didn’t know it then but that simple beginning would evolve into my creative passion for designing with love and excitement. 

 

My life journey began in nursing school at 18, but after a year and a half, the emotional toll led me to reassess my path. In 1972, I embarked on a 32-year career with BC Hydro, lasting until 2004.

 

Losing my husband, marked a pivotal life moment filled with sadness, heartache and reflection. Throughout my tenure at BC Hydro, I climbed the ranks to management, undergoing extensive training at BCIT and SFU. This journey equipped me with a diverse skill set that I was able to transfer to self-employment.

 

In 2004 with this opportunity to self-reflect and discover who I wanted to be, I found myself discovering design & staging development with a focus on both product rental and services under Wow Factor Staging Rentals, training through the Canadian Redesigners Association. My work encompassed designing existing homes for sale, show homes, multi-dwelling new developments, and vacant properties. A highlight was accompanying a client to the Georgie Awards, where we earned a finalist among the top three staging companies in BC. My core clients were new home builders who I enjoyed immensely. 

 

The onset of COVID prompted a rebranding initiative. My transformation has shifted from product investment and rental to a concentrated focus on staging, styling, and design services, offering, personalized and customized design solutions. The emphasis of “Property Styling” will support our desire to be a resource to meet our clients need.
